India is agog as two of her sons won the world’s most coveted award, the Oscar award through the film ‘The slum dog millionaire’ that is directed the Britisher Danny Boyle. Agreed, this occasion has to be celebrated, but the message that the award conveys to the world is that India is still full of slums and impoverished children and if any director projects the other side of India, he is sure to get the award.
This kind of mud slinging our country does not stop with films. It extends even to book writers. Aravind Adiga portrayed the dirty picture of India in his book ‘The White Tiger’ and he won the Booker prize. Similar is the case with Ms.Arundathi Rai who had won the booker prize earlier. The message that these awards convey is ‘Project an ugly picture of India and win an award’ Do we need awards at the expense of our mother land?

while agreeing with the poverty part...we have to say that we can’t wait for someone else to come and show us the way we want...
till bollywood keeps making those silly movies anyone will think avg Indian IQ is problematic....look at Chinese films like CTHD & The hero....they are world class movies but based on their history & myths...
In India people with new idea don’t get the funding..only cliched formulas attract producers...
